Schindler, Oskar

Oskar Schindler (28 April 1908 – 9 October 1974) was a German industrialist born in Moravia. He appeared in the novel Schindler's Ark and the 1993 Academy-Award winning film based on it, known as Schindler's List as the central protagonist in which he is played by Liam Neeson. He married Emilie Pelzl on March 6, 1928, but they never had children. He saved over 1,100 jews during the holocaust by employing them in his enamelware factory in what is now Poland and ammunitions factory in what is now the Czech Republic.
